In order to expand the support and resources that we provide our centres and students, NCC Education is piloting free access to a collection of academic journals for our students and centres.
Emerald Group Publishing Ltd is a prominent independent publisher in global research. Their high-quality, peer reviewed journals are used by more than 4500 leading universities, business schools, government departments and publicly listed companies around the globe.
As of the 2nd of April, all students and staff members will be able to access a collection of journals through our library page on Campus. The journals are stringently reviewed for quality and are regularly updated so you will be able to access current material as well as the back catalogue of each journal in the collection. The journals can be accessed by this link:

The resources are suitable for use for both undergraduate and postgraduate students and are grouped into the following collections:
- Business and Management
- Accounting, Finance and Economics
- Computing and Information Systems
In addition to journal access, Emerald provide extra resources for students and lecturers. The Learning Zone includes a useful selection of resources that complement learning through all levels up to postgraduate, offering support with study skills resources, podcasts and management skills. There is also a Research Zone for students who are looking for advice on how to develop their research skills. The Teaching Zone offers resources for lecturers with plenty of articles and tips to assist lecturers with their professional development and resources for use in the classroom, such as case studies.
To begin with, the pilot will run until the 31st of January 2014. If we receive a positive response from the free journal access then we will continue the service and consider expanding the provision. In order to make the decision as to whether or not to invest in such a service, we will monitor usage of the service and are requesting your feedback on the journals. Please take the time to complete the short survey on the webpage to let us know what you think of the service. If you have any additional comments on the service or on what library resources you would like to see provided by NCC Education in the future then please contact [email protected].
