Proud Teacher Celebrates 10th Anniversary Teaching at Daffodil Institute of IT, Bangladesh 30 August 2012

Shamsuddin Ahammad, an NCC Education graduate, is a course coordinator at Daffodil Institute of IT, and a well-respected author. He recently celebrated ten years of teaching and enriching students’ lives. We caught up with him to ask him a few questions…

Why did you chose to study an NCC Education qualification?

I was admitted onto the International Diploma in Computer Studies (IDCS) in 1999. At that time, what inspired me to enroll onto an NCC Education qualifications was: 1) international recognition, 2) certification upon completion of each one year course, 3) Top-up degrees from globally respected universities.

How did the NCC Education qualifications help you?

I consider NCC Education qualifications to be 100% relevant. The practical and project based nature of the course helped me a great deal in working on my theory and practical skills. It was very apparent that what we were taught on the course was fully relevant within the world of IT and business.

Could you please tell us how you began writing your books?

One of the greatest achievements in my life is publishing IT related books from the Packt Publishing Ltd., UK. I have written two books so far. One book is on iReport, a reporting tool for Java; the other is on Google Web Toolkit (GWT), which is a Java framework for web application. The book titles are iReport 3.7 and Google Web Toolkit Application Development Cookbook. My teaching of NCC Education qualifications and work experience at DIIT helped me immensely when writing these books.

It began with a small blog I wrote on iReport (http://ireport-tutorial.blogspot.com/) for my students to help my teaching. Within a few days, this blog got a very good ranking in search engines and an editor of Packt Publishing saw it and approached me about writing a book.

I’m very pleased that I’m getting a good response from the readers. Many students and teachers of many universities in different countries write to me to praise my work or for further help. Some of them have become my friends through social networking sites. My books are playing a good role in building my network with professionals and others.

Why do you like being a teacher?

Being a teacher is a very prestigious role. I have been teaching for more than ten years. Really the relationships with my students inspire me most to continue this profession. I’m very proud to be a part of students’ success in their lives. Here I must mention my institute Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT).  I was a student of this institute and now I’m a teacher here. I always tell my new students proudly that I’m from DIIT. Working at DIIT is very flexible and easy. Many of my teachers are my colleagues now and I’m very happy to work with all of them.

We can proudly say that we at DIIT are playing a very good role in IT in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is advancing gradually in the implementation of IT in every sector. IT industries are also blooming. Bangladeshi IT professionals are doing a great deal to boost the economy of Bangladesh – I’m proud to be one of them. I’m very grateful to DIIT and NCC Education.
