In February this year NCC Education held a launch event in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The event showcased NCC Education’s portfolio of new and existing qualifications and demonstrated how these products are suited to the needs of Sri Lankan students.
NCC Education chose the Galadari Hotel in Sri Lanka’s capital city of Colombo to stage the launch of the new Digital Literacy qualifications in the country. Joined by key members of the Sri Lankan Government and well established schools and academic institutions, notable attendees included Mr Sunimal Fernando, Advisor to the President and Mr Damith Hettihewa, Co-ordinator IT, Presidential Task Force on English and IT.
Guests were welcomed in entertaining style to a fusion of bagpipes and traditional music, supported by a troupe of traditional Sri Lankan dancers. After being invited to perform the Sri Lankan ceremony of ‘The Lighting of the Lamp’ NCC Education’s Director of Sales, Chris Wall, opened the event by outlining NCC Education’s commitment to offering quality education globally and in Sri Lanka itself.
Showcased during the event and designed for domestic and international students, NCC Education’s new Digi-Qualifications available to children aged five years and upwards, aim to provide digital literacy skills to students in these technologically emerging areas as well as mapping to the new English Computing Curriculum.
In attendance from NCC Education were Marketing Manager, Lucy Nixon, Academic Support Manager for South Asia, East Asia and Middle East, Nazlin Abdul and Business Development Manager for South Asia, Sanjeev Ganeshan.
Following the successful event, Lucy Nixon, Marketing Manager commented:
“it was wonderful to have the opportunity to visit this beautiful part of the world and meet some of our existing centres, and potential new centres. We are very excited about our new computing qualifications and are looking forward to providing a syllabus to help teachers develop children so that they will become the next generation of computer programmers and act responsibly online”.
